Located on the northeast side of Vaavu Atoll, Miyaru Kandu<\/strong> is one of the most popular channel dive sites in the Maldives<\/strong>. Nicknamed the “Shark Channel”<\/strong>, this site is known for its consistent sightings of grey reef sharks<\/strong> and white-tip reef sharks<\/strong>, especially during strong incoming currents.<\/p>\n

Due to variable current conditions, Miyaru Kandu is best suited for advanced divers<\/strong>, though on calmer days, it can be accessible to intermediate-level divers<\/strong> as well. Expect an adrenaline-filled drift dive with big fish action<\/strong> and clear visibility.<\/p>\n

Divers can expect frequent sightings of reef sharks<\/strong>, nurse sharks<\/strong>, and other large pelagic species<\/strong> cruising along the drop-offs or out in the blue. The sandy areas<\/strong> are ideal for spotting stingrays<\/strong>, eagle rays<\/strong>, and resting sharks<\/strong>, offering exceptional opportunities for underwater photography and big animal encounters.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Located west of Fulidhoo Island<\/strong>, Kunaavashi Kandu<\/strong> is a spectacular channel dive site<\/strong> that comes alive during incoming tides. Divers can explore both entrances of the channel, where large pelagic species<\/strong> are frequently spotted.<\/p>\n

The southern reef wall<\/strong> features dramatic overhangs and cavities<\/strong> starting at 10 meters and descending to 30+ meters deeper into the channel. Along the edge, it\u2019s common to see grey reef sharks<\/strong>, white-tip sharks<\/strong>, and schools of jacks<\/strong>\u2014making this an ideal site for big fish lovers<\/strong> and experienced divers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Inside the caves and under the ledges, divers may encounter whitetip reef sharks<\/strong>, stingrays<\/strong>, and occasionally nurse sharks<\/strong> resting in the shadows. Alimatha Jetty<\/strong> is one of the most iconic dive sites in the Maldives, especially famous for its unforgettable night dives<\/strong>. Located near Alimatha Resort, this shallow reef area is teeming with nurse sharks<\/strong>, stingrays<\/strong>, and massive giant trevallies<\/strong> that gather in impressive numbers after dark.<\/p>\n

The calm conditions and shallow depth make it suitable for all levels of divers<\/strong>, and it’s a dream location for underwater photographers<\/strong> looking to capture close-up action of Maldivian marine life<\/strong> in a truly surreal setting.<\/p>\n
